00Your information
How ISM50 handles your information.
This site asks for nothing from a reader except, if you choose to write, the details below. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. This page says what the contact form does with a message and what the rest of the site does not do.
What the form collects
The contact form collects your name, your email address, a phone number if you choose to give one, what the message is about, and the message itself. Nothing else is asked for.
The page also sends the time it loaded, which lets the form discard automated submissions, and an empty hidden field that only a bot fills in. Neither is information about you.
Where it goes
The form sends the message to a small script (a Google Apps Script) that runs in the site owner's own Google account. The script emails the message to the owner and records it in a private Google Sheet in the same account. That is the whole path.
No third party form service sees it. Google handles the message because it provides the owner's account, in the same way it handles the owner's other email. The script does not receive your IP address.
The form works without JavaScript too. In that case your browser sends the same fields straight to the script and shows its confirmation page, with a link back to this site.
How long it is kept, and how to have it deleted
A message is kept for as long as it is useful for the enquiry it came with, and then deleted. If you would like yours deleted sooner, write again through the form from the same email address and say so, and it will be removed from the email and from the sheet.
What the site itself does not do
It sets no cookies. It runs no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. It embeds nothing from another service, and loads no script or font from another host: the typefaces are served from this site.
There is one thing stored in your browser, and only if you use it. The theme button in the header remembers your choice in your browser's local storage, under the name ism50-theme, so the next page opens the same way. It stays on your device and is never sent anywhere. Clear your browser's site data and it is gone.
The pages are served by Firebase Hosting, which is a Google service. Like any host it receives the request for each page in order to answer it. The site itself has no code that records those requests.
Who to ask
ISM50 is written and run by one person in Ottawa, Ontario. A question about any of this goes through the same form, and this page is changed the day anything it says stops being true.
